Standish Guerilla Gardeners

a project to get an old railway track restored so we can use it to walk to the village

The Project

Currently I have one sole project - to bring the Standish Line back up to scratch. I’ll post updates on a periodic basis but here’s where we are up to - click here for the diary

Location - The ‘Line’ in Standish
Described as an old Mineral Line used to transport coal on a narrow guage railway used up until the 1960’s for more information check out - standish-history.org.uk a superb site with loads of historical info about the area.
The Line is approx 1 mile long (as I know it) if you want to a walk down it you can find the route here. There’s not a great deal to see and currently parts are very muddy so wear boots!

Current project location

Mineral Line Standish

The exact area can be found here on Google Maps (thanks guys for a superb service). If you haven’t used Google Maps check it out it awesome.

UPDATE!!

The project has been extended now to take in the whole of the line - 1 mile long.
