Job Done!!!

Well almost done, I could do with a little help, litter picking and moving a bit of gravel, half a day and a gang of us and perhaps a shade more gravel will just about do it.

But the original mission to go from base camp to the top of The Line is complete - walk without getting too muddy and without hopping over puddles.

We’ve had 30 trees planted, dumped 40 tonne of gravel and today HURRAH sowed 1 kilo of wild flower seeds (thanks Wigan Council) including

  • Corncockle
  • Cornflower
  • Corn Marigold
  • Corn Poppy

So yeh - over to mother nature to do her stuff.

If you do want to help finish the job and then drop me a line.

If all of us watch for -

  • Litter Bugs
  • Rubbish Dumpers
  • Bad Dog owners
  • Bad Horse owners
  • Stupid Motorcycle Riders (Motocross Bikes)
  • Children who enjoy snapping trees

The path should go from strength to strength with a bit of care - who knows one day the whole line from the Almond Brook to Somerfield may get refurbed and become the perfect way to cut through the traffic and enjoy the small scrap of countryside left in the centre of Standish.  OK so I live on a new build of ten years but please Wigan Council save a little patch for wildlife and please provide us with a pathway through the village.  The Standish Line was an artery that helped make Standish what it is today - lets make it an artery for walking, enjoying fresh air and wild flora and fauna?

I’ve proved that one person with a little determination and a little effort can make a difference - so what can a gang of people and the Council achieve.

Over to you!
