Standish Guerilla Gardeners

a project to get an old railway track restored so we can use it to walk to the village

About

About us (well me!)

Like I’ve stated on the welcome page, I’m an individual who likes to make a difference, I have no other reason for carrying out my projects other than - I can and it feels good!

By shifting rubbish, clearing waste ground and planting plants trees I can proactively improve the surrounding area and do my little bit for the environment.

So much of our area is unloved and untended, the council have too much to do (or don’t want to know) many residence want something done but don’t do anything more than moan about it. I have decided that ther’s no point moaning and asking anymore why not just do something!

Technically I suppose if the land is owned what I’m doing is illegal, but the way I see it is if the land is uncared for public access land, and there doesn’t seem to be any activity from anyone else then why not? If I break the law in the name of improving our area then it’s a risk I’m prepared to take. Let’s face it having a record for moving rubbish and planting plants shows the law is more of an ass than we all thought.

Anyway that’s a little bit about me, I’ll be posting project reports on a periodic basis so check back, take a look at the site and if you want to join in feel free, start off yourself or drop us a line.
